Day 1 - Pack your bags and join your guide for a trip to Red Rock country! Your destination today is Sedona, with its beautiful red rocks and colorful canyons. Enjoy a day at leisure for browsing the many Southwestern art galleries, photograph the unique rock formations, hike a local trail or just relax before embarking on your big adventure! Overnight at Kings Ransom or equivalent.
Day 2 - Today, pack the sunscreen and your sense of adventure. You’ll travel to the Hualapai Indian Reservation, headquarters for your one-day whitewater trip in the Grand Canyon. Then journey down the only access road through the Grand Canyon, right to the edge of the Colorado River. Upon boarding the custom-built, 8-passenger, motorized raft, your experienced Hualapai Indian River Guide (the Hualapai have been guiding these tours for over 30 years) will lead you on a 5-hour rafting journey of the Colorado River. Later (weather permitting) you’ll be lifted by helicopter to the rim of the canyon where you’ll board your vehicle for the return trip. (Note: In the event the helicopters cannot fly, ground transport will be provided. There will be no adjustment in price.) Overnight Kings Ransom or equivalent.
Day 3 - Today, you’ll explore the backcountry of Sedona in an open air jeep. The scenery is magnificent and the ride is thrilling as your local guide takes you to some of our favorite viewpoints along the Soldiers Pass Trail! This afternoon, you can explore on your own or we can schedule an optional scenic and historical tour of Sedona. Rest up this evening and get ready for your hiking excursion to the Grand Canyon tomorrow. Overnight Kings Ransom or equivalent.
Day 4 - Explore the Grand Canyon on foot with your local naturalist guide. Your day expedition will begin with a scenic drive and stops at breathtaking Grand Canyon overlooks followed by a delicious picnic lunch along the rim. After lunch, you’ll hike between three and five miles into the heart of Grand Canyon depending on the abilities of the group. Remember that Grand Canyon hiking is somewhat strenuous and you should be in fit condition. The elevation change will be approximately 1,000 feet (305 meters.) Please remember to bring adequate water and snacks. You’ll return to Sedona this evening, tired but thrilled with this incredible day. Overnight: Kings Ransom or equivalent. Day 5 - Depart Sedona for your outbound flights from Phoenix Airport. (Note: Shuttles to Phoenix depart several times daily and flights should be coordinated with those times.)
Includes 4 nights accommodations, western experience and cookout, admissions, Grand Canyon hiking excursion, transportation and services of your tour guide. Note: Tour is not available for departure on Sundays and requires a minimum of 2 passengers to operate. Note: Children must be 8 years or older.
--What kind of vehicles will I be traveling on?
We are proud to offer the finest fleet in the Phoenix area. Our brand new, full sized maxi-vans are all customized for touring, including individual seating, a center aisle, state of the art public address systems, hydraulic steps and many of them have video players. The windows are oversized for great views and all the vans are fully climate controlled. Our fleet also includes a 2000 model 24 passenger mini bus which is handicapped accessible. We have deluxe motor coaches available to accommodate large custom groups when necessary.
--What items can I bring on board?
Our vans are designed for 12 to 14 passengers. We have limited space for luggage and allow small overnight bags only on overnight tours. Any bags larger than 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches should be left with your hotel. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. If you have a wheelchair or other necessary equipment, please notify us at the time of booking so we may make arrangements for your special needs. We have a cooler on board that small items such as medication or snacks may be refrigerated for your convenience. Anything you bring should be able to fit under your seat for the comfort and safety of everyone on board.
--What kind of weather should I expect?
Arizona's desert areas experience a warm, dry climate with only 7 inches of rainfall annually. Summer daytime temperatures average 95 to 102 degrees (35 to 39 Celsius); spring and autumn average 75 to 88 (24 to 31 Celsius) and winter, 65 to 70 (18 to 21 Celsius). Northern Arizona and the Grand Canyon range from 72 to 82 degrees in the summer (22 to 28 Celsius) to 25 to 45 degrees in the winter (-3 to 7 Celsius). Such diversity means great weather for touring any time of the year!
--What type of clothing should I wear?
We want you to be as comfortable as possible. Casual dress is suggested on all tours (shorts, jeans, comfortable shoes). Remember that the Grand Canyon is 20 to 25 degrees cooler than Phoenix, so layered clothing is suggested for winter months.
--What about meal stops?
Meal stops are included on the tour. Except where specifically noted as included, the cost of meals is not included in the tour price; however, meal stops are at moderately priced restaurants. Water and candies are included on all tours.
--Are gratuities included in the price of the tour?
Guide gratuities are not included in the tour price. Gratuities are given at the discretion of the passenger and are always welcome. Suggested gratuity is 10 to 15% of the tour price.
